What the TSL2560 family does

The TSL2560 and TSL2561 are light-to-digital converters featuring two integrating ADCs that transform visible and infrared light intensity into a digital signal. These devices operate on a single supply of 2.7 V to 3.5 V, offering a 1,000,000-to-1 dynamic range and consuming only 0.75 mW typical power. The TSL2560 supports an SMBus interface, while the TSL2561 utilizes I2C Fast-Mode at 400 kHz. Both variants include programmable analog gain, integration time, and user-defined interrupt thresholds to automatically reject 50/60-Hz lighting ripple. Typically used for display panel backlighting, keyboard illumination, and digital camera exposure control, these sensors are ideal for notebook PCs, tablets, and automotive instrumentation clusters.
