00 — Overview

What the MPU-6000 does

The MPU-6000 and MPU-6050 are six-axis motion tracking devices combining a three-axis gyroscope and a three-axis accelerometer. These units feature 16-bit ADCs, digital motion processing, and both I2C and SPI serial interfaces. The MPU-6000 supports a 1.5 kHz SPI interface, while the MPU-6050 operates at 1 kHz. Both parts include a self-test function and a FIFO buffer for data storage. Engineers typically use these components in applications requiring sensor fusion, such as gesture recognition, navigation systems, and consumer electronics like smartphones and gaming controllers. The integrated signal conditioning simplifies system design by providing ready-to-use digital data.
