00 — Overview

What the SN65LBC184 does

The SN65LBC184 and SN75LBC184 are differential data line transceivers with integrated transient voltage suppression. These devices operate on a single supply of 4.75V to 5.25V and support data rates up to 250kbps. They feature ESD protection exceeding ±30kV for contact and air-gap discharge, plus a circuit damage rating of 400W peak. The open-circuit fail-safe receiver design allows up to 128 unit loads on the bus. These transceivers meet TIA/EIA-485 and ISO/IEC 8482 standards for industrial networks, utility meters, and motor control applications without requiring external components.
