What the PCM5100A does

The PCM510xA family comprises stereo digital-to-analog converters with integrated PLLs and 32-bit PCM interfaces. These devices accept 16-, 24-, and 32-bit audio data in I2S or left-justified formats. The PCM5100A, PCM5101A, and PCM5102A variants offer 112, 106, and 100 dB RMS dynamic range respectively, operating on single supplies of 1.8 V to 3.3 V. They feature ultra-low out-of-band noise, direct line-level outputs down to 1 kΩ, and intelligent muting systems. The integrated PLL eliminates the need for an external master clock, while the charge-pump architecture removes the requirement for DC blocking capacitors. Designers typically use these components in A/V receivers, DVD and BD players, automotive infotainment systems, and aftermarket amplifiers.
