What the PCM1808 does
The PCM1808 is a high-performance, low-cost, single-chip, stereo analog-to-digital converter featuring a 24-bit resolution and 96-kHz sampling rate. This delta-sigma ADC supports single-ended voltage inputs up to 3Vp-p and operates with dual power supplies of 5V for analog and 3.3V for digital sections. Key specifications include a typical signal-to-noise ratio of 99dB, a total harmonic distortion plus noise of -93dB, and a dynamic range of 99dB. The device incorporates an oversampling decimation filter with 64-times oversampling, an on-chip high-pass filter, and an analog antialias low-pass filter. It supports sampling rates from 8kHz to 96kHz and offers flexible PCMAudio interfaces including master or slave modes with 24-bit I2S or left-justified data formats. The PCM1808 is suitable for DVD recorders, digital TVs, AV amplifiers, receivers, MD players, CD recorders, multitrack receivers, and electric musical instruments.
