What the MCP3425 family does

The MCP3425 is a 16-bit delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter featuring an internal 2.048V reference and I2C interface. It operates on a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply with a differential input range of ±2.048V. Key specifications include 10ppm integral nonlinearity, programmable gain of 1x to 8x, and selectable data rates of 15, 60, or 240 samples per second. The device supports continuous or single conversion modes with automatic offset and gain calibration. It is designed for portable instruments, electronic scales, and temperature detection using RTDs, thermistors, or thermocouples. Available in a small SOT-23-6 package, it offers low power consumption with typical currents as low as 0.6µA in 12-bit mode.
