What the MCP2551 does
The MCP2551 is a high-speed, fault-tolerant CAN transceiver that interfaces protocol controllers with the physical bus. It supports 1 Mb/s operation and complies with ISO-11898 standards for 12V and 24V systems. The device features a maximum of 112 nodes, 165°C thermal shutdown, and low current standby operation. It offers three operating modes: High-Speed, Slope-Control for reduced RFI emissions, and Standby. Available in DIP and SOIC packages, it provides differential transmit and receive capability with built-in protection against ground faults, short circuits, and high-voltage transients.
