What the ISO7220M does
The ISO7220 and ISO7221 are dual-channel digital isolators available in A, B, C, and M variants spanning 1, 5, 25, and 150 Mbps signaling rates. These devices operate with 2.8 V, 3.3 V, or 5 V supplies and feature 4 kV ESD protection. They support industrial fieldbus protocols like Modbus and Profibus while maintaining low channel-to-channel output skew of 1 ns maximum. The ISO7220 channels align in the same direction, whereas the ISO7221 channels align in opposite directions to facilitate PCB layout. Engineers typically use these isolators in data acquisition systems, servo control interfaces, and computer peripheral applications to block high voltage and prevent noise currents from interfering with sensitive circuitry.
