00 — Overview

What the ADS1100 family does

The ADS1100 is a precision, continuously self-calibrating 16-bit analog-to-digital converter housed in a tiny SOT23-6 package. It features differential inputs, an internal system clock, and an I2C-compatible serial interface. The device operates from a single power supply ranging from 2.7V to 5.5V and supports programmable data rates from 8 to 128 samples per second. Key specifications include 0.0125% INL, 4 µVp-p low noise, and 90 µA current consumption. An onboard programmable gain amplifier offers gains of 1, 2, 4, or 8. The ADS1100 performs conversions ratiometrically using the power supply as the reference. It is designed for portable instrumentation, industrial process control, smart transmitters, and temperature measurement applications where space and power consumption are critical.
