What the MCP4706 does
The MCP4706/4716/4726 are single-channel 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit buffered voltage output Digital-to-Analog Converters with nonvolatile EEPROM and I2C interface. This family operates on a single supply of 2.7V to 5.5V, offering rail-to-rail output, a typical fast settling time of 6µs, and low-power consumption of 210µA in normal operation. Users can select a voltage reference from the VDD pin or an external VREF pin, with output gain options of 1x or 2x. These devices support standard, fast, and high-speed I2C modes and are available in small 6-lead SOT-23 and DFN packages. They are typically used for sensor calibration, set point trimming, low-power portable instrumentation, PC peripherals, data acquisition systems, and motor control applications.
