00 — Overview

What the AD7798 does

The AD7798/AD7799 are low power, low noise, complete analog front ends featuring a 16-/24-bit Σ-Δ ADC with three differential inputs and an on-chip instrumentation amplifier. These devices operate with a single supply of 2.7 V to 5.25 V, consuming 300 µA typical for the AD7798 and 380 µA typical for the AD7799. With an update rate ranging from 4.17 Hz to 470 Hz, the AD7799 achieves 27 nV RMS noise at 4.17 Hz, while the AD7798 reaches 40 nV. The parts include simultaneous 50 Hz/60 Hz rejection and an internal clock oscillator. Engineers typically use them for weigh scales, pressure measurement, strain gauge transducers, gas analysis, and industrial process control. Both variants are available in a 16-lead TSSOP package.
