The MSP430AFE2x3, MSP430AFE2x2, and MSP430AFE2x1 are ultra-low-power mixed-signal microcontrollers featuring a 16-bit RISC CPU, up to 12-MHz system clock, and three, two, or one independent 24-bit sigma-delta ADCs respectively. These devices operate on a single supply of 1.8 V to 3.6 V, consume 220 µA at 1 MHz in active mode, and wake from standby in less than 1 µs. They integrate a 16-bit hardware multiplier, Timer_A, USART, and five power-saving modes. Engineers typically use them for single-phase electricity meters, digital power monitoring, and sensor applications requiring extended battery life in portable measurement devices.
