00 — Overview

What the LM2576 does

The LM2576 and LM2576HV are monolithic step-down voltage regulators requiring only four external components. These 3-A converters feature a fixed-frequency internal oscillator, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and thermal shutdown for full protection. The series supports wide input voltage ranges up to 60 V for the HV version, with fixed outputs of 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, and 15 V, plus an adjustable version. Typical applications include motor drives, merchant network power supplies, appliances, and test equipment. The devices operate efficiently with standard inductors and offer TTL-shutdown capability for low-power standby modes.
