00 — Overview

What the INA180 family does

The INA180, INA2180, and INA4180 (INAx180) are low- and high-side current-sense amplifiers designed for cost-optimized applications. These devices sense voltage drops across current-sense resistors at common-mode voltages from –0.2 V to +26 V. They operate from a single 2.7-V to 5.5-V supply with a maximum bandwidth of 350 kHz and an offset voltage of ±150 µV at zero common-mode voltage. The family offers four fixed-gain options: 20, 50, 100, or 200 V/V. The INAx180 integrates a matched resistor network to minimize gain error and reduce temperature drift. Engineers typically use these amplifiers for motor control, battery monitoring, power management, lighting control, overcurrent detection, and solar inverter applications. The single-channel INA180 draws a maximum supply current of 260 µA, while the dual-channel INA2180 draws 500 µA, and the quad-channel INA4180 draws 900 µA. All devices are specified over an extended operating temperature range of –40°C to +125°C.
