What the FT232R family does
The FT232R is a USB to serial UART interface integrated circuit that combines a USB protocol handler, UART interface, and optional clock generator output. It supports data transfer rates from 300 baud to 3 Megabaud with a single supply voltage range of 3.3V to 5.25V. The device features an integrated 1024-bit EEPROM for storing unique identifiers and USB configuration, eliminating the need for external components like crystals or resistors.
