What the nRF52840 family does
The nRF52840 is a Bluetooth 5 and IEEE 802.15.4-2006 transceiver paired with an Arm Cortex-M4 processor. It operates across 1.7 V to 5.5 V supplies, offering -95 dBm sensitivity in 1 Mbps Bluetooth low energy mode and -103 dBm in long-range 125 kbps mode. The device supports 2 Mbps data rates and provides 1 MB of flash memory alongside 256 kB of RAM. It features an on-chip security subsystem including AES and ECC support, plus 48 general purpose I/O pins. Engineers typically use this component for Internet of things sensors, smart home controllers, advanced wearable devices, and interactive entertainment systems.
