00 — Overview

What the LM741 does

The LM741x series are general-purpose operational amplifiers available as the LM741, LM741A, and LM741C. These devices operate on single supplies of 3 to 30 volts and feature a gain bandwidth product of 1 MHz. The LM741C variant ensures performance over a 0°C to +70°C temperature range, while the standard and A versions cover wider industrial and military grades. They include overload protection on the input and output, preventing latch-up when the common-mode range is exceeded. Designers typically use these amplifiers in comparators, multivibrators, DCAmplifiers, summing amplifiers, integrators, differentiators, and active filters. Their robust design makes them direct replacements for older industry standards like the 709C and MC1439 in most applications.
